CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND REPORTING SPECIALIST

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Corporate Governance Reporting Specialist based in the Sandton or Cape Town. The role involves preparing and reviewing corporate governance reports, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory frameworks. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams, analysing governance data, providing advisory services, maintaining compliance with reporting standards, and engaging with clients to deliver high-quality reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Drafting and refining governance sections of integrated reports (remuneration reporting expertise advantageous).
  • Reviewing governance content (including remuneration content) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Turning disclosure requirements into a coherent narrative using plain-English writing.
  • In a reporting context, applying and interpreting the Companies Act 71 of 2008, the JSE Listings Requirements, and the King Code (King IV and/or King V, as applicable).
  • Conducting governance gap analyses of client reports (including remuneration reports) against required disclosure taxonomies.
  • Assisting clients in the preparation of the King Code Application Registers, as required by the JSE Listings Requirements.
  • Re-interpreting governance disclosures into (very basic) infographic scamps and layout recommendations for design by our graphic design team and inclusion in integrated reports.
  • Maintaining internal consistency, cross-references, defined terms, dates, titles of policies/charters, and evidence alignment across an entire reporting suite.
  • Assisting our sales team by attending and answering queries in client meetings and pitches.
  • Answering client queries on best practice (and common practice) in governance reporting.
  • Escalating legal-interpretation issues appropriately.
  • Keeping current with legislative, regulatory, and framework-related amendments affecting governance reporting and integrated reporting expectations.
  • Preparing and maintaining internal governance taxonomies and other templates.
  • Proactively identifying process and system improvements to support departmental efficiency.
  • Good grasp of AI and using it in a Corporate Governance role.
Minimum requirements:
  • NQF 7 qualification or higher
  • 3+ years in corporate reporting, governance reporting, company secretarial support, legal/compliance reporting, or integrated report writing or editing
  • Experience working with:
  • – Companies Act 71 of 2008 (governance-related provisions relevant to disclosures)
  • – JSE Listings Requirements (governance and reporting-related requirements)
  • – King Code on Corporate Governance (King IV and/or King V, as applicable)
  • – Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint
  • A demonstrable ability to draft and edit complex governance content into clear stakeholder-ready disclosure.
  • Proficient in using AI tools (LLMs) to enhance productivity, while applying sound judgement to ethical, responsible, and accurate use of AI-generated outputs.

  • Plain English drafting and editing, and general confidence in amending the structure, flow, and language of a report
  • Ability to explain technical governance requirements using plain English
